Haiti - Agriculture : President Moïse visits the construction site of the Tannerie irrigation dam

Friday July 17, President Jovenel Moïse accompanied by his wife Martine and Patrix Sévère the Minister of Agriculture, visited the reconstruction site of the La Tannerie irrigation dam located between Quartier-Morin and Rivière du Nord, in order to note the progress of the works and encourage the Cuban and Haitian teams working on this site to speed up their work so that water is available to revive agriculture throughout the region.

The Head of State in his instructions asked the Minister Severus to make all the arrangements so that the technicians and the workers work in shift day and night to finish the works in 4 months at the latest.

Let's clarify that this infrastructure once rehabilitated must allow the irrigation of more than 1,000 hectares of land in several municipalities of the Department of North, with a main canal with a length of 12.6 km whose cleaning is underway and which goes until Quartier Morin. In addition, this site will include 20 wells which will be dug shortly.

In addition, President Moïse has ordered two pumps with a capacity of 4,000 gallons per minute, to supply the canal until the end of the works, so that the planters do not run out of water

Recall that the Tannerie irrigation dam is inoperative and has not given water to planters for nearly 40 years (1981)...
