Haiti - Tourism : Reopening of Haiti to tourists

On Wednesday, Myriam Jean, Minister of Tourism, Raina Forbin President of the Haitian Tourist Association (ATH) and Dr. Yves Gaston Delourches, Representative of the Ministry of Public Health initialed a protocol concerning the reopening of the destination aiming to reassure tourists as well as operators of the tourism sector and the staff of tourist establishments.

In her speech, Minister Jean underlined "[...] Today more than ever, we must reassure travelers, restore confidence in the tourist chain and have a healthy and quality tourist offer in the context of Covid-19, are the objectives of this protocol," stressing that a team from the Ministry will be set up whose mission will be to monitor the proper application of the measures in all tourist establishments.

For Raina Forbin this health protocol will give assurance and guarantee the health protection of employees and tourists who choose the destination Haiti affirming "This is what we can do to prove to the whole world that the country is opening again to tourists by full security," stressing that in all establishments with more than 5 employees the presence of a health worker will be compulsory.

Yves Gaston Delourches, recalled "We are not at the end of our troubles [...] it is true that the incidence is decreasing in Haiti but we must remain vigilant. This is why all infection prevention and control measures are part of this protocol."
