Haiti - Coup : Speech that Ivickel Dabresil was going to make, as «Provisional President»

The "President" Me Ivickel Dabrésil chosen by the radical opposition, arrested during the foiled attempt coup https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32966-haiti-flash-coup-foiled-all-official-details.html and which was to be installed Sunday, February 7 as provisional President to assume the transition in the event of the departure of President Moïse, had for the occasion prepared an 8-page speech that he was to deliver.

It is this speech that was seized by the police among many other exhibits and of which we have obtained a copy that we invite you to read...

Speech by "Provisional President" Yvickel O. Dabresil :

"Dear compatriots,

[...] We first want to address our gratitude and our thanks to all the spiritual entities who presided over and led to our choice as provisional President of the Republic of Haiti. Recognition and thanks that We want to extend to all sectors of national life who have been kind enough to show us their confidence in this critical period of our history [...] Thank you to all these friends, political leaders of Civil Society, population of the ten geographic departments of the country and you also brothers and sisters of the diaspora for this period of consent. [...]

Dear fellow citizens,

The inclusive and peaceful nature of the step taken today in resolving the crisis should honor us. Especially since it is at the cost of immense sacrifices, clairvoyance and self-sacrifice that we have reached this crucial stage in the construction of our democracy. We must strive to respect the laws of the Republic, to protect and strengthen state institutions, to ensure the constant safeguard of the general interest, to better protect Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, the true basis of Refounding of the State, of Citizenship, of our social ties and particularly of the rule of law.

Haitian people,

The necessary return to constitutional normality justifies the establishment of this new presidency. Our orientations and our lines of political engagement quite often lead us to oppose our choices but we must above all remember that the links which unite us are much more solid and more lasting than those which divide us [...] Political adversaries not enemies fierce, irreconcilable, tearing each other apart as we all pursue the same goal, the common well-being, the development of our beloved Haiti. [...] The general interest must be our share. It invites us to transparency, sharing, dialogue, to come to an understanding on everything that can divide us [...]"
