Haiti - Politic : The PM launches a Task Force for the reduction of insecurity

Resolutely turned towards a synergy of government actions around the disarmament, dismantling and reintegration of armed gangs in Haiti, the Prime Minister, Joseph Jouthe, created and launched this week a Task Force for the implementation of the Strategy National Disarmament, Dismantling, Reintegration and Reduction of Community Violence (SNDDR/RVC), with a view to achieving a climate of public security and social appeasement for the benefit of the entire population.

This Working Group should review and finalize the SNDDR-RVC document, regularly inform the Head of Government of the progress of the projects and make the related recommendations. As part of the deployment of the SNDDR-RVC, the Task Force will also ensure the implementation of social programs, community awareness, social appeasement, through labor-intensive projects, while ensuring the restoration of confidence and harmony within the Haitian National Police (PNH), through the definition of a new policy of professional training and sustainable job creation in the country.

Prime Minister Jouthe welcomes the need for the operationalization of the National Strategy Document (SNDDR/RVC), prepared by the National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling and Reintegration (CNDDR), with the technical and logistical support of the Office Integrated United Nations for Justice in Haiti (Binuh), serves as a platform to promote human rights and eradicate the phenomenon of gangsterization of working-class neighborhoods by providing essential public services to populations in the most vulnerable areas.

Composition of the Task Force :

The Prime Minister's Office through the Office of the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Human Rights and the fight against extreme poverty;

The Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE);

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP);

The Ministry of Defense (MD);

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST);
