Haiti - Diplomacy : Towards strengthening cooperation with Argentina

Vilbert Bélizaire, Ambassador of Haiti in Argentina, had a meeting at the seat of Government in Rosario, capital of the Province of Santa Fe, with the Governor of the Province Omar Perotti who was accompanied by Sonia Martorano, the Minister of Health and Julieta De San Félix, Secretary for International Cooperation and Regional Integration of the Province of Santa Fe.

"Today, there is a large Haitian community living in Rosario, there are between 2,000 and 2,500 people with a diverse migratory situation, many of them study at university, and others have difficulty accessing to certain rights because they do not have the adequate documents and we are analyzing how to regularize this situation," declared De San Félix to the Ambassador of Haiti. In addition, she informed the Haitian diplomat that she had analyzed "the possibility of articulating triangular cooperation projects, from which the Province of Santa Fe can contribute in terms of precision agriculture, agricultural machinery and access to health services."

Ambassador Vilbert Bélizaire was also interested in Santa Fe's approach to Covid-19 and the progress of its vaccination plan.

"There is work to be done in the form of solidarity with a country that has historically supported us in our claim to Falklands sovereignty in the face of British claims. Today, there are migratory flows that shake a large part of America and the challenge is to build capacities to avoid these irregular situations."

At the end of this meeting, Omar Perotti confirmed to the Ambassador of Haiti his desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation ties in the areas of migration, health and agriculture.
