Haiti - War in Ukraine : End of the consular protection mission in Eastern Europe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the Consulate General of Haiti in Paris, following the instructions of the Chancellery, carried out in Eastern Europe a consular protection mission for Haitian nationals in the war zone in Ukraine https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-36134-haiti-ukraine-a-haitian-delegation-in-warsaw-to-help-our-compatriots-in-conflict-zones.html

This mission successfully led by Consul Richardson Étienne has come to an end for the moment. It has enabled the Consulate to provide consular protection assistance to our nationals who are also in Russia, Poland and other places in Eastern Europe.

The Chancellery is in permanent contact with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross Societies (IFRC) via the Haitian Red Cross in order to provide humanitarian assistance to our nationals if necessary.

The Chancellery also points out that the ICRC and the IFRC via the Russian Red Cross have fully supported the 14 Haitian students who are struggling in Russia and Kaliningrad.

8 students who are currently in Poland have received psychological assistance from the Consulate, while 2 others who are in Prague (Czech Republic), coming from Ukraine, have benefited from financial assistance.

Regular follow-up contacts on this file are also made with the Honorary Consulates of Poland, Russia and Turkey in Haiti.
