Haiti - Insecurity : A student in 5th year of Medicine shot dead

Saturday April 23, Osny Zidor, (27), a 5th year student at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy (FMP), was killed in Bois-Verna, by a bullet in the head, shot for no reason by a unidentified individuals traveling on a motorcycle, while she was a passenger in a minibus which provided the downtown/Pétion-ville route. The student died instantly.

The Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (UEH) said to be, in a note, "in the most total dismay" after learning the news of the heinous assassination of student Osny Zidor.

"The Rectorate denounces and condemns with all its might this umpteenth oduious crime perpetrated against a member of the UEH community. It is deeply regrettable that mourning continues to knock on our doors in such disastrous conditions.

The Rectorate presents its sympathy and solidarity to the family and loved ones of Osny Zidor. At the same time, he shares the pain of the large FMP family.

The Haitian people and particularly the university community are tired of counting corpses in their ranks. The authorities concerned must definitely get to work to put an end once and for all to this descent into hell of our dear nation."
