Haiti - Insecurity : Cry of alarm from the CCIHC

In a note, the Haitian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIHC) says it is "alarmed by the worsening of the situation" in Haiti, particularly by "the constant violence" in which we are evolving, "the economic crisis, one of the most serious of the last fifty years and the scarcity of fuel."

"While once again presenting its sincere sympathy to the too many victims, and their families, of the massacres of Cité Soleil, Croix-des-Bouquets, Bel-Air, Martissant and those of the kidnappings, the CCIHC urges the Government as well that all actors involved make national security the priority, in order to mobilize resources and means to implement all measures and fight mercilessly against corruption and impunity [...]"

While commending the efforts of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), particularly the dozens of police officers who have died in the line of duty since the beginning of the year, "the CCIHC renews its support for the PNH and asks the security forces to persevere, until the restoration of peace and security allowing each citizen to go about their business freely and with dignity."

Finally, the CCIHC urges countries that are friends of Haiti to "strengthen and accelerate the implementation of their commitments to the PNH" in the fight against banditry and crime...
