Haiti - Security : The residences of two senior government officials attacked and occupied

On the evening of September 1st, 2022, the residences of Josué Pierre-Louis, Secretary General of the National Palace and that of Me Carvès Jean, Representative of the Government Commissioner at the Court of Cassation, were attacked by heavily armed bandits, who took possession of the properties and settled there.

Reacting to this attack, Me Renan Hedouville, Protector of the Citizen and Director General of the Office for the Protection of the Citizen (OPC) said he learned with "indignation" of the attack on the residences of these two senior government officials.

"The objects and materials found in these residences located at Tabarre 49 entrance ED 1, were violently vandalized by these armed men who still occupy the premises, despite desperate appeals by Josué Pierre-Louis and Me Carvès Jean, to state authorities."

While condemning these acts of vandalism and all other criminal attacks committed on members of the population by armed bandits, the OPC asks the Ministry of Justice and Public Security to pass, as a matter of urgency, instructions to State structures concerned with a view to taking all legal measures to restore Me Carvès Jean and Me Josué Pierre Louis in their rights while initiating criminal proceedings against the bandits involved in this attack followed by occupancy of the premises...
