At the invitation of President of Haiti, Michel Martelly, the Mayor of Montreal, érald Tremblay, has agreed to join the Conseil Consultatif Présidentiel pour l'Investissement (CCPI) [The Presidential Investment Advisory Concil] as a member.

Like Bill Clinton, Michaëlle Jean and the Mayor of Montreal, this Council will be formed among other : of the former Philippines President Gloria Arroyo, former President of Spain José Maria Aznar, the former President of Costa Rica, José Maria Figueres Olsen, the former Prime Minister of Jamaica, Percival James Patterson, former President of Bolivia, Tuto Quiroga-Ramirez, the former President of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Velez.

"The coming years will be full of exciting challenges for Haiti. My commitment and my vision is to transform our nation into a place of business, create jobs and lay the foundations of the prosperity of country. The Advisory Concil will provide a set of skills and different views for the benefit of a real transformation of Haiti. My choice that the Mayor of Montreal is part of it, is based on his leadership, his achievements and his interest in the development of the human" has mentioned the President Michel Martelly, in his official letter of invitation to the Mayor Tremblay.

"Montreal is a steadfast supporter of the revitalization of Haiti. It is an honor for me to be part of this Council composed of experienced people who can find lasting solutions so that the Haitian people can evolve in a country at the height of its ambitions. I also want to remember how the Haitian Diaspora of Montreal, the largest in the world, plays an important role in the development of their country of origin. Together, we can think better, plan better and especially succeed better the Haiti of tomorrow", declared the Mayor of Montreal.

Note that since the earthquake of January 2010, the City of Montreal is conducting cooperation activities in the Haitian capital. They are part of the Municipal Cooperation Program Haiti/Canada, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and implemented jointly by the City, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Union of Quebec municipalities.
