Haiti - Insecurity : Bloody shooting in Carrefour-Feuilles, 3 dead including 2 policemen and several wounded

Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in the afternoon in Carrefour-Feuilles, during a check of a goods truck not far from the Wesleyan church, police officers who were preparing to carry out a routine search, were caught targeted by heavily armed individuals who were in a black vehicle, which was following the truck, reported Lionel Lazarre, Coordinator of the National Union of Haitian Police Officers (SYNAPOHA).

Divisional Inspector Garry Desrosiers, Spokesperson for the National Police of Haiti (PNH) confirmed that two police officers assigned to the Salomon Market sub-police station were fatally injured : Dempsey Denis, 32, Agent I of the 27th promotion, and Jean Daddy Prévilus, Agent I of the 31st promotion. The individuals fled after their crime, taking the service weapons of the 2 police officers according to witnesses.

Moreover, according to the information available at least one passerby was killed and several others injured by bullets...

The truck driver was arrested for the purposes of the investigation.
