Haiti - Anti-gang fight : The PNH launches Operation «Tornade 1» (Video)

Friday, January 27, 2023 at a press conference, Frantz Elbé, the Acting Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), following the death of 6 police officers during the attacks on the Liancourt Police Station https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-38701-icihaiti-insecurity-6-police-officers-killed-in-clashes-with-the-gran-grif-gang.html announced a rapid response to the bandits through an operation called "Tornade 1" intended to hunt down armed gangs throughout the national territory.

He called on the police to calm down "[...] Your commander invites you to keep calm, to remain serene in these painful times. I ask all police officers to concentrate their energy, to direct their forces in the fight we are leading against organized crime." In addition, he announced measures to strengthen police stations and the various units specializing in logistics, weapons and ammunition as well as measures to protect the police.

He explained that the delay in the delivery of materials ordered by the Government for the PNH explains the difficulties in carrying out certain operations on the ground.

In addition, he denied that the policeman injured in Liancourt had died, stressing that he is still being treated in a hospital center.
