Haiti - Politic : «Fanm yo la» asks the respect of the 30% quota of women

The feminist organization "Fanm yo la", asks to the Prime Minister Garry and to the President Michel Martelly, to take into account of the minimum quota of 30% n the formation of the new Ministerial Cabinet, as voted in the amendment of the Constitution of 1987.

Ms. Lisa François of this organization regrets that "only two position of General Directorate was given to women" in the recent appointments of departmental delegates and Directors General made by the Head of State.

The Deputy Ogline Pierre, a member of the G58 [new majority in the lower house] does not hesitate to condition its vote to the degree of respect by the Executive, of the 30% quota of women in the composition of the next government, "I ask to the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic to integrate women into the coming government, because it is necessary that the quota is respected, even if it can not be respected to 100%, it is necessary that we have men and women, because public affairs is a matter of women and men."

A demand that has little chance of being fully satisfied because non-binding, given that the amended Constitution has not been published in the official newspaper "Le Moniteur", the Article 17.1 modified, which refers to a minimum quota of 30% of women in the national life, has currently no constitutional legal existence. Recall that the Article 17.1 of the Constitution amended states :

It is an added an Article 17.1 which reads as follows :

The principle of the quota of at least thirty percent (30%) of women is recognized at all levels of the national life, particularly in public services.
