Haiti - Telecom : Fight against radio interference in aeronautical communications

Aware of the difficulties and damage that radio interference can cause to aeronautical communication, Engineer Joses Jean Baptiste of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) received a delegation from the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) led by the Lieutenant-Colonel Laurent Joseph DUMAS its Director General.

Lieutenant-Colonel Dumas and his team drew CONATEL's attention to the need to protect the frequency bands used by aeronautical communications. He also drew the attention of CONATEL to the standards relating to the location of base station towers in the immediate vicinity of airports.

In addition, the question relating to the deployment of 5G base stations was addressed. It was decided to keep good practices which consist in not deploying 5G base stations around the airport, as is the case in many countries.

Joses Jean Baptiste, pledged to eliminate radio interference that could interfere with aeronautical communications, and promised to release spectral resources for the deployment of a radar newly acquired by OFNAC.
