Haiti - Exodus: More than 61,000 Haitians back to Haiti since the border closed

More than 61,000 Haitians returned to Haiti, voluntarily or repatriated, after 12 days of total closure of the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti according to statistics from the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT).

The CESFRONT indicated that the border remains hermetically closed, as ordered by President Abinader, and that the Haitians, far from making efforts to enter Dominican territory, leave it every day recalling that "no one has a ban on leaving the country".

A source at the highest level of CESFRONT indicated that voluntary returns were carried out through both formal and informal procedures, emphasizing that “The greatest exodus is taking place through Dajabón”

Should be noted that to this figure is added 49,540 Haitians returned to Haiti in August 2023, a total of more than 100,000 returned to Haiti...
