Haiti - Japan : Upcoming opening of 2 new school sites

As part of efforts to allow more children to go to school and learn in better conditions, the Ministry of National Education, thanks to Japanese Cooperation, and in collaboration with UNICEF - Haiti, is preparing to launch the reconstruction works of two complete schools (from nursery to 9th grade) in the South department, the earthquake of August 14, 2021 having completely destroyed these two schools https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34479-haiti-flash-magnitude-72-earthquake-in-the-nippes-updated-10am.html

These are the National School of Somatirin (commune of Camp Perrin) and the National School of La Coline (commune of Aquin). Together, these two schools will accommodate more than a thousand students

Japanese Cooperation will finance the two projects over a period of 24 months, to the tune of 1.7 million US dollars and UNICEF, already heavily involved in the education sector, will manage the funds.

Friday October 13, 2023, Minister Manigat, the Ambassador of Japan, Yuji Kubo and the representative of UNICEF in Haiti, Bruno Maes, spoke about this project and decided to sign, next Friday, a Protocol of Commitment before the start of the work.
