Wednesday November 15, 2023, patients (women, children and newborns) from the Fontaine Hospital Center in Cité Soleil had to be completely evacuated urgently after finding themselves at the heart of violent clashes between men from the Brooklyn gang , led by Gabriel Jean-Pierre alias "Ti Gabriel" also the leader of the coalition of gangs "G-Pep" who confronted the men of gang leader Iscar Andrice who died on Sunday in confusing circumstances https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-40974-haiti-news-zapping.html

José Ulysse, Director of the Fontaine Hospital Center, denied reports that heavily armed individuals entered this medical center and took patients under hostage. "There was no hostage-taking. There was a gang war around the hospital, preventing anyone inside from leaving the premises, there were neighboring houses set on fire [...] all the health personnel were is sheltered [...] we had to call the police so that they could come and help us to evacuate all the people who could not move [...]"

Elite units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) intervened to allow the evacuation of the hospital. According to Ulysse, the national police arrived with three armored vehicles and evacuated 40 children including several newborns and 70 patients.

All patients were transferred safely to a "private facility" far from the combat zones.
