Haiti - NOTICE : The Canadian Embassy reduces its staff to the essentials

Due to the volatility of the situation, the lack of reliable supplies and the need to ensure an effective presence in an unstable context, Canada is temporarily reducing staff at its embassy in Haiti to the essentials. Displaced staff members will continue to carry out their functions from a third country.

"In these difficult times, Canada’s embassy will continue to support Canadians who remain in the country, as well as Haiti and the Haitian people. Canada’s ambassador to Haiti will also remain in the country and continue to engage Haitian stakeholders and international partners toward the implementation of the political agreement. We will continue to support Haitian-led solutions to the political, security and humanitarian crises.

"The Embassy of Canada in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, remains temporarily closed to the public. However, we are maintaining consular services to Canadians who need assistance in Haiti.

"Canadians requiring consular assistance in Haiti should contact the embassy by dialing +011 (509) 2812 by texting 9000, or prncecs@international.gc.ca.

"Canadians in need of emergency consular assistance can contact Global Affairs Canada's Emergency Watch and Response Center in Ottawa, which is open 24 hours a day. 24 and 7 days a week:

by telephone at +1 613‑996‑8885 (collect calls are accepted where available)

by email to sos@international.gc.ca

by SMS to +1 613‑686‑3658

by WhatsApp at +1 613‑909‑8881

by Signal at +1 613‑909‑8087

by Telegram to Emergency Canada abroad

"We continue to advise Canadians to avoid all travel to Haiti and encourage all Canadians in Haiti to check our Haiti travel advice as often as possible for updates and to sign up with the service Registration of Canadians Abroad."
