Fruitful exchanges this week between Augustin Antoine the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, and Richard Wen-Jiann Ku, Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China) in Haiti around school infrastructure and the strengthening of public schools and early childhood

The two men, in the presence of the Minister's Chief of Staff, J.R. Dossaint, and the First Secretary of the Embassy, Bao-Neng Lee, took stock of the construction file for the High School of Excellence in Quartier Morin, financed by Taiwan for $16 million, signed on March 24, 2021https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33324-haiti-taiwan-a-high-school-of-excellence-in-quartier-morin-for-$16m.html and to see how to relaunch this important project to strengthen the public school system in the North.

Let's remember that in addition to classrooms and administrative buildings, this high school, which aims to be versatile, will have, among other things, several laboratories, a library, dormitories for teachers and students, a football field with natural grass, a running track and an Olympic swimming pool. It will cover an area of 8,500 m2.

The need to strengthen public schools in Haiti with the provision of technological tools, drawing inspiration from good practices in Taiwan, was raised by Minister Antoine who also intends to contribute to strengthening early childhood.

At the end of the discussions, Minister Antoine and Ambassador Ku promised to stay in touch to follow up on the discussions and the next steps for these major education projects.
