Haiti - CEP : Choice of representatives, all sectors divided except two

Nearly a month after launching the process of appointing the 9 representatives of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42746-haiti-flash-heading-towards-the-formation-of-the-provisional-electoral-council.html (Voodoo; Episcopal Conference; Reformed Faiths; University Council; Human Rights Organizations; Journalists' Associations; Women's Rights Associations; Peasant Associations and the Trade Union Sector), only the representative of the Catholic Church and the Voodoo sector which reconfirmed theire choice on August 3rd are not contested. The 7 other sectors, 4 names of which were forwarded to the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-42851-haiti-news-zapping.html are all contested by these same sectors, which are plagued by division...

Given these delays, the CPT granted this week as an additional deadline to forward the name of their final representative. If the sectors cannot agree on the choice of their representative, this week or next week at the latest, the CPT could consider making the decisions for them...

On Monday, the Director of the Office of the Presidential Advisor, Pierre Jean Raymond André, met with representatives of the peasant sector, namely 4G, RENAPA, OCODER and KODEPA, as well as representatives of the union sector, namely BSAC, CNOHA, UNSMT and COSHARCD, who were unable to agree on the choice of their representative. These two sectors should send the CPT the names of their representatives by August 8th...

On the same day, Edgard Leblanc Fils, President of the CPT and Councilor-Frinel Joseph, have a meeting at the Villa d'Accueil with the representatives of the reformed religions sector represented by : CONASPEH, FEPAH and COPAH, who cannot agree on the choice of their representative. The CPT has deemed it appropriate to bring them together in order to reach a consensus to choose a single representative of the reformed religions sector by August 8, 2024.
