Haiti - Aviation : Monitoring of the construction site of the control tower and radar station at PAP International Airport

On Tuesday, August 6, engineer Raphael Hosty, Minister of Public Works, accompanied by three members of his Cabinet, and Laurent Joseph Dumas, Director General of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC), visited the construction site of the new control tower and radar station at Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

This visit provided an opportunity to see the progress of the Haitian civil aviation modernization project in a summary manner.

The project, led by the VINCI Construction Grands Projets (VCGP) group and supported by the ADP International Group, includes a 32-meter control tower and a 2,300 m² technical building. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34517-haiti-security-construction-of-an-atm-complex-and-a-new-control-tower-at-the-international-airport.html

Funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Haitian government, with a budget of $20 million, the project includes a secondary radar and two automatic surveillance stations, for better management and control of air traffic.

Should be noted that the new air traffic control radar is already available and has been successfully tested.

Energy autonomy will be reinforced by a photovoltaic system and the training of local technicians will be provided by the Dominican Higher Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38780-haiti-aviation-dr-will-train-haitian-technicians-on-air-traffic-control.html

This project, scheduled for the end of 2024, represents a significant step forward for the safety and modernization of Haitian airspace.
