Voltaire to meet the Pope

Leslie Voltaire, the pro tempore President of the Transitional Council left Haiti on Thursday, January 23, 2025 for a European tour. Among other things, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, he will be received in audience at the Vatican by Pope Francis and on January 29 by the President of France Emmanuel Macron in Paris

Evans Paul : Elections impossible in 2025

It is almost impossible to organize elections in Haiti this year, believes Evans Paul. In addition to the major obstacle of insecurity, the former Prime Minister mentions the time constraint, given the agenda that also includes the constitutional referendum that should be held next May, according to the draft calendar submitted to the Transitional Council by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

France determined to support Haiti

During the UN Security Council meeting, France expressed its determination to support Haiti in restoring security and political stability. France has mobilized 10 million euros in 2024 and is continuing its efforts to support the Multinational Mission to Support the Haitian National Police and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) in the fight against criminal groups. It has responded to humanitarian needs with 16 million euros in 2024, particularly for the benefit of school canteens and displaced persons.

In 2024, GAAR welcomed 214,898 deportees

The Support Group for Repatriates and Refugees (GARR) announces that it welcomed in 2024 through official border points 214,898 deportees arrested on Dominican territory during migration control and turned back at the border (Repatriates), including 154,593 men, 43,194 women, 6,900 girls and 10,211 boys. The GARR denounces the treatment suffered by deported persons and calls on the international community to demand that the Dominican authorities respect international conventions relating to deportation.

WFP : Emergency cash support to 10,000 families

Thanks to the EU ECHO Programme, WFP has provided cash support to 10,000 families facing emergency levels of hunger in Petit and Grand-Goâve. Money transfers strengthen the local economy and allow people to decide with dignity what they need most.
