Haiti - FLASH : Health Alert

The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) advises the general population and health professionals in particular that a counterfeit medicine, falsely labeled "TETANUS ANTITOXIN", is currently circulating throughout the country.

This counterfeit product referenced in this alert and labeled "TETANUS ANTITOXIN 1500 IU, 1 ml and 2 ml" comes in a transparent vial, covered with a white label with letters printed in red.

The primary packaging is written in English and indicates a batch number E-634 which has no traceability in Haiti. The expiration date (06/2027) is mentioned on the label of the 1ml and 2ml ampoules.

In terms of risks, the use of the falsified "Tetanus antitoxin 1500 IU, 1 and 2 ml" induces ineffective treatment and other more serious risks to the patient's health, even putting their life in danger.

Furthermore, in order to protect the health of the population, the MSPP calls for vigilance.

The purchase, distribution, sale and use of any product meeting these characteristics are strictly prohibited on Haitian territory.

The MSPP therefore urges all health professionals to report any incident relating to pharmacovigilance to the Health Directorate of their respective jurisdiction for immediate appropriate action.
