Haiti - Football : Prestigious friendly matches for our Grenadières, against Canada

After an encouraging tour of South America in April, punctuated by a victory on April 4th [1-0] https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44626-haiti-flash-our-grenadieres-victorious-over-chile-[1-0-]-videos.html and a small defeat on April 8 [2-1] https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44654-haiti-football-friendly-return-match-chile-takes-revenge-on-haiti-[2-1].html against Chile, our Grenadières are preparing to take on a new major challenge on the North American continent. Under the leadership of French coach Malou Quignette, our Grenadières, ranked 53rd in the world, will play two friendly matches against Canada, gold medalists at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and ranked 7th in the world during the May-June 2025 FIFA window.

These two matches are part of the Haitian national team's dynamic progression since its historic qualification for the 2023 World Cup. They will offer the players a new opportunity to compete against a leading player in world football and refine their preparation for upcoming international competitions.

The momentum of Haitian women's football is particularly evident in the growing emergence of players playing in professional and university leagues in Europe and North America. Thanks to the continued integration of new talent from the diaspora, the national team is actively strengthening in preparation for the 2025-2029 Concacaf cycle, which will include the Concacaf Women's Qualifiers, the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Furthermore, the May 31 match in Winnipeg will feature a vibrant tribute to Desiree Scott, an iconic figure of the Canadian national team. Scott will officially bid farewell to the international stage after winning 187 caps between 2010 and 2024. She won three Olympic medals : bronze at London 2012 and Rio 2016, and gold at Tokyo 2020. Scott has left her mark on the CANWNT with her hard work, defensive rigor, and competitive spirit.

Mathes Schedule in Canada :

• Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba

• Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025 at Saputo Stadium in Montreal, Quebec
