Haiti - South : More than 114 million Gdes in investments

On July 3rd, 2025, a delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, led by Minister Alfred Fils Metellus, traveled to Les Cayes to participate in the 4th edition of the Regional Finance Summit in the Grand South, organized by Group Croissance S.A. and the Collective of Chambers of Commerce of the Grand Sud, on the theme of "Financing SMEs for Economic Recovery".

The Minister emphasized the importance of this event, which, for him, highlights the urgent need for action in the departments to kick-start Haiti's economic recovery.

Prioritizing interactions with the public, Minister Metellus emphasized the importance of local investment, for which strengthening state and financial institutions is essential.

He addressed the representatives of the Chambers of Commerce present in the room to emphasize that the State needs all citizens to move forward, particularly through public-private partnerships.

During the presentation by Jean Michel Silin, Director General of the Budget, the focus was on programs and projects that directly support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), across all sectors, since these businesses are the true driving force of economic development in Haiti.

The geographical distribution of investment projects in the 2024-25 budget highlighted a total of 114,116,000 gourdes for the South Department.

Wilson Fievre, Director General of the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI), concluded the day's series of panel discussions with a presentation on the national terrestrial fiber optic network project for Haiti.
