PAHO Mobilizes for Haiti

As the humanitarian crisis in Haiti worsens, the population continues to face urgent needs. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and its partners remain mobilized to provide lifesaving assistance to those most affected. Today, a new shipment of essential medical supplies and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) items was sent to the country from PAHO's strategic stockpile in Panama. This mission was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Direct Relief, Logistics Cluster, the World Food Programme (WFP), and financial support from EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

BINUH Mandate Renewal

The UN Security Council is scheduled to vote on Monday, July 14, on a draft resolution renewing the mandate of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH). In his latest report on BINUH, published on June 27, 2025, the UN Secretary-General recommended extending the mandate for an additional year, with the necessary logistical and security resources to operate in the current context. However, the proposed draft resolution renews BINUH's mandate until January 31, 2026 (6.5 months) and maintains the mission's mandate and core tasks unchanged.

End of escape for 2 escapees

Philippe Etienne, an escapee from the national penitentiary, and Saintony Exil were arrested on the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025. The operation was conducted jointly by the Sud and Grand'Anse police. The two individuals were intercepted in Beaumont in possession of a 5.56 caliber rifle and three magazines.

Les Cayes : Socio-cultural Activities, Authorization Required

During this busy summer season with socio-cultural and sporting activities, the Cultural Office of Les Cayes City Hall informs the general public, and groups, entities, and cultural and sporting stakeholders in particular, that a valid authorization from the City Hall is mandatory and necessary for the organization of planned and scheduled socio-cultural, artistic, and sporting activities on public roads and public sites in the municipality. Without this authorization, they will be subject to suspension.

2 New Technical Directors at MICT

Pierre Canisius Guignard, Director General of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities (MICT), this week installed two new acting Technical Directors to head two of the Ministry's strategic departments. They are Ralph Lunique Prudent, who joined the MICT in 2008 and is in charge of the Legal Affairs Department (DAJ), and Berthony Noël, who is in charge of the Political Affairs and Human Rights Department (DAPDH).
