Haiti - Washington : PM meets with Senator Raphael Warnock and Michael Jensen

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as part of ongoing cooperation with international partners aimed at a lasting solution to the crisis in Haiti, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, on an official visit to Washington, D.C., met with Democrat Raphael Warnock (Georgia), a senior member of the Senate and an influential member of the Senate Finance Committee's Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness.

At the heart of the discussions were security issues, the organization of free and credible elections, and the crucial renewal of the HOPE/HELP Act, a strategic pillar of the economic partnership between Haiti and the United States.

The Prime Minister expressed his government's firm commitment to creating the necessary conditions for institutional stability and strengthening the rule of law, an essential condition for economic recovery. He reaffirmed the Haitian government's commitment to addressing the multidimensional challenges facing the country. He also emphasized the critical importance of the trade preferences granted under the HOPE/HELP Act for the development of the Haitian textile industry, the creation of sustainable jobs, and the fight against poverty. The Prime Minister called for the solidarity of the U.S. Congress to ensure the sustainability of this essential instrument of cooperation.
