Haiti - Washington D3 : Prime Minister continues his Diplomatic Offensive

On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé continued his diplomatic offensive by meeting with key figures in the U.S. Congress : Democrat Hakeem Jeffries (NY), House Minority Leader; Democrat Maxine Moore Waters (CA), Ranking Member of the Finance Committee; and Democrat Gregory Meeks (NY), Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

These high-level discussions focused on security, the organization of elections, but especially the protection of Haitian migrants (TPS and humanitarian program), as well as the contribution of the diaspora to national recovery.

The Prime Minister strongly expressed the Government's political will to restore stability and democratic order. He called for increased support from international partners, particularly the United States, to support the ongoing security and institutional transition. Advocating for the rights of compatriots abroad, he also emphasized the need to maintain and strengthen the humanitarian and protection systems available to Haitians, stressing that no lasting solution for Haiti can ignore the reality of migrants and the diaspora.

On the same day, Prime Minister Fils-Aimé also met with Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (FL).

The Head of Government reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring the security of the Haitian people and strengthening democratic institutions. The crucial issue of the upcoming elections was central to the discussions, reflecting the shared desire to promote stability and democratic governance in Haiti.

Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick reiterated her commitment to working alongside Prime Minister Fils-Aimé and his government to guide Haiti on the path to a more stable, secure, and prosperous future.

Prime Minister Fils-Aimé also had a productive meeting with Republican Brian Mast (FL), Chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

During the meeting, the Head of Government reaffirmed his determination to restore national security and put Haiti back on the path to democratic stability through the organization of credible and inclusive elections.

For his part, Brian Mast expressed his commitment to supporting the Haitian government's efforts in this crucial endeavor for Haiti's future.
