Haiti - USA : TPS holders in Florida can renew their driver's license

Haitian nationals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) can continue to apply for or renew their driver's licenses in Florida, as confirmed by the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector's Office.

This announcement follows recent federal court rulings supporting continued access to identification cards and driver's licenses. This is a relief for our compatriots who rely on these documents in their daily lives in the United States.

The Florida Dept. of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) has established new guidelines. Thus, any TPS recipient with valid documents will be able to complete these procedures until their temporary permit expires, without additional restrictions from the state.

Haitian citizens protected by TPS, with valid documents, will be able to access Florida State services until February 3rd, 2026 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45251-haiti-news-zapping.html , according to Dariel Fernández, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector.

These measures are intended to align with federal regulations, ensuring that eligible individuals can obtain identification in accordance with current administrative orders. The guidelines published by the FLHSMV serve as the basis for providing these services without legal delays.

The Tax Collector's Office assures that it is ready to assist TPS recipients with valid documents. Fernandez emphasized that the new court rulings provide clarity for residents who rely on the immigration system to complete essential procedures.

It is advisable to visit the official FLHSMV and USCIS websites to verify changes in TPS eligibility and requirements.
