On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Director for the Americas, Ambassador Rafael Orozco, participated in the closing ceremony of a training program provided by the Colombian National Police at the Colombian International Police Training Center in San Luis, Tolima, for 23 Haitian police officers. https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-46205-icihaiti-security-23-police-officers-undergoing-specialized-training-in-colombia.html

This training is part of a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the National Police, and the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation (APC Colombia), and reaffirms the commitment of the government of Colombian President Gustavo Petro to strengthening institutions and security cooperation with the Haitian people.

This program is part of the Colombia-Haiti Work Plan and the commitments made by President Petro during his official visits to Haiti in January (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44119-haiti-politic-brief-visit-of-colombian-president-gustavo-petro.html) and July 2025 (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45371-haiti-flash-colombia-will-train-1-000-fad-h-soldiers.html), aimed at developing bilateral cooperation and supporting efforts to stabilize and strengthen Haitian institutions.

Designed by specialized instructors from the Colombian National Police, the course focused on five priority areas designed to strengthen the operational and strategic capabilities of the Haitian National Police (PNH) :

• Citizen security;

• Criminal investigations;

• Tactical operations in urban and rural environments;

• Intelligence;

• Combating smuggling.

Through this training, Colombia reaffirms its role as an ally of Haiti and its ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to strengthening security, peace, and stability in the country, through constructive, respectful, and mutually beneficial technical cooperation.
