Haiti - Politic : PM meets with the Chilean diaspora

During his official visit to Chile, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by Raina Forbin, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the Haitian community in Chile. The meeting was marked by a particularly warm welcome and a strong turnout from Haitians.

The Prime Minister shared with members of the diaspora the efforts undertaken by Haitian authorities to restore security throughout the country. He also discussed the significant progress made by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) in preparation for the upcoming elections, noting that political parties are currently in the process of registering.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government's efforts are currently focused on three major priorities: restoring security, actively working towards the country's economic recovery, and creating the necessary conditions for holding credible and inclusive elections.

Addressing the Haitian diaspora in Chile, he reaffirmed his commitment to using his influence to restore a climate of stability that would allow Haitians living abroad to return home and enjoy peaceful vacations with their families. He also emphasized the importance of the diaspora's contribution to boosting the national economy.

Furthermore, Fils-Aimé addressed the issue of identity and official documents, announcing his intention to activate the necessary mechanisms, particularly through the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), to permanently resolve the difficulties faced by the diaspora in obtaining criminal records. https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-46859-icihaiti-diaspora-phones-the-mhave-continues-to-process-police-certificate-applications.html

Speaking next, Chancellor Forbin reaffirmed the special attention the Government pays to the Haitian diaspora.

She reiterated that Haitian embassies and consulates are tasked with serving Haitians living abroad, supporting them, and facilitating their access to consular services. The Minister also encouraged the organization of Haitian communities abroad, emphasizing that a structured diaspora is stronger and better able to defend its rights while contributing to national development.

Finally, the Minister reiterated that, despite the distance, the Haitian diaspora remains a vital part of the nation, and that the Government remains fully committed to working, with the support of all Haitians, to overcome the crisis and build a better future for the country.
