Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan makes a humanitarian visit to Haiti

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé received Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan, Senior Special Advisor to the World Food Programme (WFP), who was on an official humanitarian mission to Haiti.

During their discussions, Fils-Aimé reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving the living conditions of the population, despite the particularly challenging circumstances. He also discussed the measures implemented to strengthen the protection of the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children.

Foreign Minister Raina Forbin also held a cordial and productive meeting with Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah Zeid. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Haiti and the WFP, particularly in the area of ​​maternal and child health, within a humanitarian context marked by significant challenges. The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Haiti, Nicole Boni Kouassi, and the WFP Country Director in Haiti, Wanja Kaaria, also participated in the meeting.

Minister Forbin commended Her Royal Highness's remarkable commitment to humanitarian causes, particularly maternal and neonatal health, and reaffirmed the Haitian government's commitment to strengthening this strategic collaboration for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations.

During her official visit to Haiti, Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah Zeid participated in a high-level strategic meeting at the Karibe Hotel, bringing together national and international figures committed to peace, development, and strengthening the protection of women, as well as providing support for victims of violence. Discussions focused on two main areas: supporting feminist organizations and the sustainable restoration of peace in Haiti.

Among the participants were Marie Goretti Nduwayo, UN Women Representative; Nicole Kouassi, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator (BINUH); Wanja Kaaria, Representative of the World Food Programme in Haiti; Yuki Takemoto, UNAIDS Representative; as well as the Minister of Tourism, Stéphanie Smith, and the Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights, Pédrica Saint-Jean; alongside representatives from about ten Haitian women's and feminist organizations.
