US$10 million from Rotary International (District 7020) for DINEPA in Haiti

During the Rotary International District 7020 Conference 2026, held in Jamaica (April 28 to May 1st, 2026), the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), represented by its Director General, Théophil Ostinvil, conducted a series of high-level strategic discussions with key figures in Rotary International.

These discussions, held notably with former Rotary International President Barry Rasin, former Rotary Zone 33/34 Director Jeremy Hurst, Rotary District 7020 Governor William Bill Aiken, as well as several past Presidents and Governors, helped solidify strong institutional alignment around the priorities of the drinking water and sanitation sector in Haiti.

Following negotiations, a financial commitment of approximately US$10 million over the next five years has been finalized, marking a significant step forward in mobilizing additional resources for this sector in Haiti.

This funding is part of the existing partnership between DINEPA and Rotary International District 7020 through the Haiti National Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Initiative (HANWASH), which serves as a technical implementing arm for Rotary International.

Beyond its financial significance, this commitment reflects international recognition of DINEPA's leadership and the credibility of the reforms undertaken in the sector. It also paves the way for strengthening technical and financial partnerships, which are essential to accelerating universal access to drinking water and sanitation services in Haiti.
