Members of the "Kokorat San Ras" gang killed

Several members of the "Kokorat San Ras" gang, operating in La Croix-Périsse, in the commune of L’Estère, were killed in a shootout during a police operation aimed at dismantling this criminal group. During this large-scale operation, various specialized units of the Haitian National Police (PNH), supported by a task force, armored vehicles, drones, and helicopters, were deployed.

Scam : IOM warning

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Haiti is warning the public about scams, particularly in Solino, in the Capital Metropolitan Region, and in Jacmel. Individuals posing as IOM representatives are contacting citizens online to extort money from them under the pretext of a supposed housing construction program. The IOM reiterates that all its services are free and that no employee or partner is authorized to request money or payment in exchange for assistance.

Fuel : Propane gas prohibited

The Directorate of Traffic and Road Police (DCPR) is alerting public transport drivers to the use of propane gas as an alternative to fuel. The use of this fuel is prohibited in vehicles in Haiti, the DCPR reminds, warning of the risks associated with its use.

Gang clashes : the death toll increases

According to the UN, at least 390 people, including many civilians, were killed between March 6 and May 16, 2026, during clashes between gangs in Cité Soleil and Croix-des-Bouquets related to turf wars. At least 87 houses and public buildings were burned down.

Death of the artist Katelyne Alexis

Defense Cooperation with the USA

On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Mario Andrésol, the Minister of Defense, held a working session with the military attaché of the United States Embassy in Haiti to discuss prospects for defense cooperation and capacity building for the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H). New avenues for cooperation and various forms of support that could be provided to the FAd'H, particularly in the areas of institutional strengthening, training, and technical assistance, were discussed.
