Policewoman and her child kidnapped

On Friday, June 5, 2026, Police Officer Bigor Michel-Ange, a member of the 20th graduating class of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and assigned to the Ministry of Planning, was kidnapped by armed individuals. Her kidnappers, traveling in a gray Subaru, abducted her and her child as she was about to take them to school. No ransom demand has been received by the family, and the PNH has not made any official statement regarding the progress of the investigation.

New appointments at the ONA

As part of its modernization and institutional reform policy, the National Old-Age Insurance Office (ONA) appointed two senior officials this week to head strategic departments within the institution. Mr. Yves Emmanuel Adéclat has been appointed Director of Communications and Public Relations (DCRP), while Ms. Ginette Bernard has been named Director of Pension Management (DGP). These appointments reflect the General Directorate's commitment to promoting governance based on merit, experience, competence, and professional dedication, while valuing internal human resources as a key driver of performance and institutional transformation.

A 200 Million Gourde Tax Break

Strengthening the Leadership of Displaced Women

With the support of UN Women through the Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund<, the Association of University Women of Haitien-North launched a project to strengthen the leadership of displaced women in the North for inclusive and sustainable crisis management. Objectives: to strengthen the leadership and participation of 150 women in the prevention, management, and response to humanitarian crises; to facilitate their active role in their communities; and to reach them more effectively through training, awareness campaigns, and women's committees.
