Haiti - Education : Laurent Lamothe very popular in Cap-Haitien

Laurent Lamothe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister-designate, accompanied by Mr. Joao Santana, Charge d'Affaires of the European Union and Reginald Paul, the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, inaugurated early in the weekend, the Fundamental School of Application - Pedagogical Support Center (EFACAP) Anténor Firmin, of Cap Haitien.

Arrived by helicopter with his team, Laurent Lamothe was greeted by hundreds of children interpreting the national anthem and songs of welcome. In a speech improvised in Creole, he commended the efforts of the Minister of Education and the European Union for the education of children of North of Haiti praising the actions of President Martelly, for his program of free schools across the country.

For his part the Charge d'Affaires of the European Union highlighted the "Program of the European Union of Support to Strengthening the Quality of Education" (PARQE), funded since 2002 to the tune of 40 million euros and who has to its credit: the construction of 19 EFACAP and the he networking and the rehabilitation of over 440 schools in 4 departments, thus ensuring an educational environment to about 120.000 students, also equipped with textbooks and school kits. This support was also provided to over 3,000 teachers, pedagogical advisors and principal inspectors of EFACAP in network who have been equipped with teaching materials...

The Prime Minister-designate also met with professors, responsible for school education and reminded them that the training program put in place by the Head of State will continue in compliance with educational standards as has also pointed the Minister of Education who has taken the opportunity to deny a persistent rumor in Cap suggesting the elimination of Bac 2.
