This Thursday, June 7, 2012, will be held, the 18th edition of "Livres en folie" at the Parc historique de la Canne-à-sucre. This 18th edition will be dedicated to a great figure of the contemporary Haitian poetry, Georges Castera, who will be the guest of honor.

This year "Livres en folie" [an initiative of Le Nouvelliste and Unibank], will present, on a special stand, 131 authors, 1.368 titles including over 200 new features. Authors of the diaspora will also be present, including Edwidge Danticat, Frantz Benjamin, Louis Philippe Dalembert...

"This is the opportunity for us to congratulate the organizers who bet on a cultural product, and we can say they are winning [...] the Ministry of Culture and the entire government, can only welcome this initiative and accompany this realization [...] our concern is that the book becomes increasingly accessible to a part more and wider of the population. That's why, that beyond the ad hoc support we bring to this event, we want as soon as possible, provide concrete answers to the problems of copyright in Haiti," stated Mario Dupuy, Minister of Culture, at the launch of "Livres en folie".

For his part, Max Chauvet, the Director of Le Nouvelliste, announced several innovations, including at the level of customer service, presentation of works funded by the Rum Barbancourt, the launch of the price "Première œuvre" of Livres en folie...

Guy Torment, the Communications Officer of the Unibank reminded that branches of Unibank will be at the disposition of the customers, and that foreign Internet users and from the Haitian diaspora can place their orders on the sites and www.livresenfolie.com www.unibankhaiti.com, promising as usual, reductions of around 40%, 10% more on purchases made with a Unicarte.

William Eliacim, of the company Barbancourt, a major sponsor of "Livres en folie", speaks of about ten grant to be awarded to authors "To celebrate our 150th anniversary, we wanted to put more emphasis on Haitian books [...] we decided to award 10 grants to authors published to account of editions over a period of 5 years [...] the first two recipients of the Barbancourt grant r 2013, will bedesignated at a special meeting to be held at Le Vilatte."

The National Directorate of the Book (DNL) will also be present at this literary event "We will put in place this year a Center for Reading and Cultural Activities (CLAC) on the site of Livres en folie o allow visitors to get an idea of what is a CLAC and its various activities [...]," indicated Ernst Saint-Louis, the Director of Public Reading to the DNL.
