Haiti - Sports : In London, 4 Haitian athletes make us dream of a podium...

After the elimination in 16th finals, Sunday, July 29, 2012 in London, of our young judoka of Cap-Haitian, Linouse Desravine [21], the Haitian delegation still has 4 participants in athletics that make us dream of a podium... According to our sources the Haitian government would have contributed to the tune of 6 million gourdes for this participation in the Olympic Games.

Athletes and competition schedule :

Marlena Wesh 400 meters (August 3-4-5) and 200 meters (August 6-7-8) :

Marlena Wesh, was born February 16, 1991, in Virginia. She is studying psychology at Clemson University, Clemson, SC, USA. Lawrence Johnson is his coach. The 400 meters women, will begin Friday, August 3rd at the Olympic Stadium, the semifinals on Aug. 4 and final on Aug. 5. The world record in this discipline is 47.60 seconds (Germany) and the Olympic record 48.25 seconds (France).

Marlena Wesh will also participate in the 200 meters. The 200 meters women, will begin Aug. 6 at the Olympic Stadium, the semifinals on Aug. 7 and the final on Aug. 8. The world record in this discipline is of 21.34 seconds (USA) and the Olympic record 21.34 seconds (USA).

Jeffrey Julmis 110 meters hurdles (August 7-8) :

Jeffrey Julmis, was born January 28, 1984, in Haiti. He studied at Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, USA. Cliff Rovelto is his coach. The 110-meter hurdles begin on August 7th at the Olympic Stadium, the semifinals and finals will be held on August 8. The world record in this discipline is 12.87 seconds (Cuba) and the Olympic record 12.91 seconds (China).

Samyr Lainé triple jump (August 7-8-9) :

Samyr Laine was born July 17, 1984, in New York. Samyr has a Masters in Law and studied at Harvard University. He is currently 15th in the world rankings in the triple jump. Qualifying for the Men's triple jump, will be held Tuesday, August 7th at the Olympic Stadium and the finals on August 9. The world record in this discipline is 18.29 meters (Great Britain), and the Olympic record 18.09 meters (USA). The best personal of Samyr in outdoors is 17.39 meters and 16.48 meters indoors.

Moise Joseph 800 meters (August 6-7-8) :

Moise Joseph, was born December 27, 1981, Florida. The 800 meters will begin Monday, August 6 at the Olympic Stadium, the semifinals will be held August 7 and the final on August 9. The world record in this discipline is 1:41.01 minute and the Olympic record 1:42.58 minute (Norway).
