Haiti - Security : The Video surveillance will be more present

Reginald Delva, the Secretary of State for Public Security, announced that the experience of video surveillance on the route of the Carnival of Flowers, was a success and that this technology would be more present and made available to police forces in their work.

"...I can say now that the carnival was an opportunity for us to launch the initiative of video surveillance. This is a reflection that we were doing for a long time to put this technology at the service of security forces. Remember that since his campaign, President Martelly constantly demonstrate the role that technology can play in our society [...]

After the Carnival, it's certain that we will continue to move forward with this project, and it is sure that very soon this technology will be more present in the work of security forces. This is not just a conjunctural thing we did [...] it's far from it, on the contrary, we wanted to use the route of the Carnival to test equipment and a series of software that will be used, and I think it's gone [...] there are opportunities to see in real time and record the data [...] during the Carnival, the operators were in constant contact with the terrain, the course was divided into 13 sectors, each sector had a responsible and from the images of cameras that the operators had, we have easily been able to guide individuals in the field to a well-defined point [...] and we will continue along the same lines..."
