Haiti - Tourism : The Diaspora inaugurates its project of guesthouses in Haiti

Mr. François Guillaume II, Consul General of Haiti in Miami, accompanied by a large delegation of businesswomen of businessmen from the diaspora and of Vice-Consul Martine Thevenin of the Commercial Section, attended the opening ceremony of the first of 3 sites of the chain of guesthouses to Port-au-Prince. This great victory of the Business diplomacy, advocated by the Administration Martelly-Lamothe, is the result of five months of work between the Commercial Section of the Consulate and the investment company "Pearl Hospitality", whose Anne-Marie Desvarieux, well known and respected personality in Haiti, is one of the associates.

Ms. Gabrielle Rigaud, Executive Director of "Pearl Hospitality" explained to the press the idea of transforming these buildings in guesthouses, a management partnership between her company and homeowners in Haiti. With a capacity of 3 to 12 rooms maximum, the idea is to offer visitors a unique urban residence in a real family atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, with meals, massage, drivers and cars.

The Consul Guillaume II, did not hide his satisfaction concerning the first positive effects of the business diplomacy in Haiti through the initiative of the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami. The 3 pilot sites [Vivy Mitchel, Thomassin and Cap-Haitien], will allow : to create long-term jobs, to increase reception capacity of tourism nationally and the circulation of currency. It is also an opportunity for homeowners to transform their homes into real sources of income, if they are chosen by "Pearl Hospitality" to be part of their network.
