Sunday, thousands of supporters of former President Aristide took to the streets of Port-au-Prince on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the coup of 1991. Left from the popular neighborhood of downtown, the protesters walked several streets of the capital before heading to the Champs de Mars.

Under heavy police surveillance, protesters carrying photos of the former president Ariside and red cards, chanted slogans denouncing the high cost of living and vigorously criticized the government's economic policy, which, according to them, has not kept his campaign promises. Others chanted, "No, never more coup. We want a democratic state in Haiti"

About the current situation, marked by the rising cost of living, Schiller Louisdor, member of the leadership of Fanmi Lavalas has asked the government to regroup and find solutions to problems "We want to tell the President that we do not accept this situation of misery," insisting for the promises of welfare, made during the electoral campaign become a reality.

However, beyond the supporters of Aristide, other more radical protesters who hurled slogans against the Head of State and of accusations of corruption in the place of the President's family, had come in a completely different purpose, to demand the departure of President Martelly, accompanied among others by : the Louis Gérald Gilles, of Paul Denis, the former Minister of Justice, the political activist René Civil, of Senator Francky Exius, of Deputy Arnel Bélizaire and the former Senator Turneb Delpé. In the first line, on a horse, bicolor in hand, the fierce opponent of President Martelly, the Senator Jean Charles Moïse, promised to carry the torch of mobilization in all regions of the country and declared "Martelly has two months to resign. Otherwise, he will pay the consequences. I'm going to attack him on all fronts."

Fanmi Lavalas officials, who stood out of this request of departure of the Head of State have indicated that the organization was ready to accompany people in their legitimate demands in favor of respect of the Constitution, of institutions, of better living conditions and a good governance.

The demonstration was dispersed without incident near the National Palace in demolition, where Haitian police backed by UN peacekeepers had set up roadblocks.

Lucien Jura, the spokesman of the presidency, condemned once again, any movement designed to create unrest and advocated the dialogue and cooperation to solve the country's problems.
