Haiti - Social : Julio Iglesias-Martelly in Concert, for the children of Haiti

Friday, December 28, 2012, at the amphitheater "Altos de Chavon", in La Romana, Dominican Republic, the President Michel Martelly, has shared the stage with the legendary singer Julio Iglesias from Spain, during a Benefit-Concert organized for the benefit of the children of Haiti. The profits of this concert will be donated to the Foundation Rose et Blanc, headed by the First Lady of Haiti, Sophia Martelly.

Before a sellout crowd of over 5,000 spectators, Julio Iglesias has welcomed the Haitian Head of State [in French] and expressed his gratitude to be accompanied in that show by the President of Haiti. Michel Martelly smiling, thanked in Spanish for the presentation, and said that never in his artistic career he had imagined that one day he would sing alongside "a singer named Julio Iglesias."

Iglesias then asked his illustrious companion of scene, to interpret the song "Corazón, corazón" they sang in Spanish. Between mutual laughter and praise, the two singers then performed a second duet "To all the girls I loved before." Both duets were interspersed with numerous ovations from the public, among which was found its lot of celebrities including designers Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera and the famous American journalist Barbara Walters. Sophia Martelly, the Prime Minisitre, Laurent Lamothe and Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism were also present at this historic evening.

Throughout the concert, Julio Iglesias, made ​​comments in favor of the improvement of bilateral relations between the two nations sisters.

Iglesias has concluded this concert with the song "A mi manera", which led a standing ovation, of a public grateful for this unique show.
