Friday, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Commerce and Industry (MCI), accompanied by Luc Especa, Director General of the Ministry and members of the Metrology Service of the Directorate of Quality Control and Consumer Protection (DCQPC), proceeded, in the premises of Ministry, to the delivery of standard volume and other equipment of verification of petroleum products, to the departmental offices of North and Artibonite.

These instruments will be used to check the amount of fuel delivered to consumers by service stations. "We must promote decentralization and ensure better service to consumers across the country," declared the Minister. "We are now equipped for the measurements of mass and volume. Others will come later," assured Luc Especa.

The DCQPC has already made several inspections of products for sale. Fuel pumps will be checked periodically throughout the country. "This is precisely to make the work more efficient, taking advantage of the decentralization policy of the Ministry, that we equip today the departmental offices of the Artibonite and North, with of instruments to measure the volume," explained the Minister Laleau, indicating that other departments will be gradually equipped. This is the first time that the Ministry has such a tool, allowing to regulate one of the aspects of our business practice. There will be stored the standards (étalons), that will serve as a reference for the calibration of industrial equipment and commercial measuring instruments. Measures that are of great importance for the protection of the consumer and which constitute at the same time, a support for entrepreneurs and industrial.

Note that the MCI has recently trained inspectors, in technique of verification, coming from the various departments of the country, which will receive ery soon these materials.
