Haiti - Social : Resumption of popular canteens

Three months after the temporary suspension, of Popular Feeding Program, at the level of the most vulnerable areas for budgetary reasons, the Administration Martelly-Lamothe, reactive and reinforces this initiative in the North. Indeed, in the largest slums of Cap-Haitien, namely La Fossette, Foujol and Nan Banann (zone Barrière Bouteille), a hot meal is served daily to the most needy.

Monday, February 11, Charles Jean-Jacques, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, went on site on this occasion "My presence here today to Nan Bannann and Foujol is part of an observation visit in food distribution centers, to see the hygienic conditions in which meals are served. he Administration Martelly-Lamothe is particularly concerned by the socio-economic situation in which you live. It strives to find the financial resources needed to strengthen this program," declared the Minister, in the presence of thousands of beneficiaries who asked him to convey their gratitude to the Head of State and the Prime Minister for their willingness to extend the program of social assistance to the most vulnerable populations.

In addition, Jean-Jacques Charles insisted on the necessity of creating a database likely to facilitate the training of beneficiaries, in order to guide them towards the intensive labor programs and at the same time contribute to their integration into the labor market.

The Minister also reiterated the determination of the team to be able to change the material conditions of existence of the most vulnerable and also indicated that the authorities in place are focusing both on the Program of Mobiles Canteens and the Program of Community Canteens, which promote the national production, according to the wishes of President Martelly.
