Wednesday, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Wilson Laleau, has presented to the Council of Ministers, the action matrix of the States General of Investment (EGI) held in Haiti on 12, 13 and 14 March 2012, a major event unanimously hailed, including by the business sector and the Haitian intelligentsia.

This event, which has the aim to put Haiti on the world map of destinations of domestic and foreign private investment, brought together more than 450 participants and counted fifty interventions. Matters relating inter alia to the economic, financial, legal and regulatory framework have been developed and discussed.

At the end of EGI, a summary was presented and discussed in the form of a matrix of actions whose the three main measures are :

• The creation of a Commission for the revision of the legal framework for business ;

• The creation of the Centre for Enterprise Development and Entrepreneurship ;

• The development of an industrial policy.

Pending the official publication of Acts, the Ministry Laleau has made available the first version of the "action matrix" from discussions and proposals of EGI. This document is a useful tool, both to restore most of the major reflections of EGI, reopen the debate started, and embark us resolutely on the path of reforms essential for the promotion of investment in Haiti.
