Haiti - Education : 2nd Country Specific Fellowship Program to the Haitian Government

In order to strengthen ties of friendship and promote exchanges at all levels with the Republic of Haiti, the Government of Korea has continued to push forward the pledge it made to the Haitian Government on scaling up ODA (Official Development Assistance) volume through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

This year at the request of the Ministry of Environment of Haiti, KOICA is implementing the 2nd Country Specific Fellowship Program to the Haitian Government. This program entitled "Development of Renewable Energy" which will be held in Seoul and Seongnam cities, the Republic of Korea from July 25 to August 10, 2013 aims to provide participants with updating technology information in the electricity sector that are essential to operate and manage the production, transport, distribution and comercialisation to improve the efficiency of the entire electrical system in Haiti.

The Office of KOICA in Haiti has invited a total of 14 Haitian government officials to benefit this course; 7 from the Electricity of Haiti, 3 from the Bureau of Mines and Energy, 3 from the Ministry of Environment and one 1 from the University of State of Haiti.

Since the earthquake in January 2010 until now KOICA has already disbursed an amount of US$9.6 million through Development Programs such as Fellowship Programs of training and Master Degree Scholarship, emergency relief and Project-type Cooperations such as Electric Power Recovery in Léogâne, the Improvement of Electric Distribution Lines and Facilities of the SONAPI Industrial Park, etc....
