Following the first meeting on 27 August https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9343-haiti-culture-towards-the-creation-of-a-museum-of-carnival-of-jacmel.html on a project of museum of Carnival of Jacmel, the Departmental Directorate of Tourism Southeast participated on October 14 to 15, 2013, to workshops on the establishment of this museum, which was attended by the local authorities, the education sector, artisans, notable of Southeast, representatives of the UNESCO, the Spanish Cooperation, the Ministry of Culture (the Institute for the Protection of National Heritage - ISPAN and the Regional Directorate of the Southeast).

During the restitution of workshops, Mr. Ronald Paul, Consultant for UNESCO and cultural policy expert, explained the various discussions with the participants. It remains only to determine the modalities of operation of the museum, which will be presented at the beginning of November.

Concept of Museum of Carnival of Jacmel, as defined by the Ministry of Tourism (MDT), the Ministry of Culture (MC) and its partners :

• An auditorium equipped with a cinema screen, video projector and overhead projector (MDT) ;

• Cafeteria (MDT) ;

• A space reserved for temporary and permanent exhibition, highlighting our rituals and music instruments, costumes and masks (MDT) ;

• A space of documentation: Media library (posters, DVDs, video cassettes) ;

• Library (documentation, works on the traditions of Carnival of Jacmel etc...) ;

• Photographic library (photos, slides, postcards, paintings) (MDT/MC) ;

• A space reserved for events (workshops for children and adults and home crafts) (Spanish Cooperation) ;

• A multipurpose room for the organization of conferences, meetings and seminars (MC) ;

• A podium reserved for the animation (MC) ;

• Shops (souvenirs and other products) (MC) ;

The inauguration of the museum should take place by the end of the year or early 2014.
