Haiti - Economy : Digicel invested $2M in «Sèvis Finansye Fonkoze S.A.»

"Sèvis Finansye Fonkoze S.A.", the largest microfinance institution in Haiti, announced the signing of an equity investment of $2 million with Digicel.

This investment will allow Fonkoze, to expand its micro-credit and create new Available from products and services in order to respond through its national network [46 branches in 10 departments] to the diverse and growing needs of Haitian citizens and small businesses.

"We deeply admire what Fonkoze has done for nearly twenty years in Haiti," said Damian Blackburn, Director of Business Development at Digicel Group "Through this collaboration, we rely on the existing partnership between TchoTcho Mobile and Fonkoze, which allows customers to withdraw and deposit funds into their accounts tchotcho in Fonkoze branches. This investment cements our commitment to further develop our partnership [...]"

For his part, Matthew Brown, CEO of "Sèvis Finansye Fonkoze S.A." declared "This investment of the Digicel is an important step in our efforts to increase our capital and to expand our essential services in Haiti. It also serves as a launching pad for new products, that will allow increase access to financial services to the most vulnerable people of Haiti and in the most inaccessible areas."
