Lesly Condé, the Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago, reminds the entire Haitian community, that Monday, November 18, 2013, brings the 210th anniversary of the "Battle of Vertières" which did honor to the black race.

As part of its commitment to accompany all Haitian community organizations in their efforts, the Consular Mission joins the "Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti" as well as other local organizations, to commemorate Saturday, November 23, this milestone in the history of our country. This event will be held from 5:00 pm at the Levy Center, located at 300 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois. Program: several speakers, patriotic songs, poems, musical entertainment. Snacks and refreshments will be offered.

In addition, Sunday, November 17, the faithful of all religious sensibilities, are invited to a Mass to be celebrated in the memory of our martyrs of Vertières. After the religious ceremony will take place at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace, located at 7801 South Jeffrey, Chicago, a reception will be held in the basement of the Church.

Finally, always to mark this important date, the Mission also present on Sunday, Sunday, November 24 on 1590 AM and on www.1590wcgo.com from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, a special program honoring this great moment in human history.
