Haiti - Politic : 16 projects for the Great North (2013-2014)

Speaking on the occasion of the 3rd edition of the program "Gouvènman an lakay ou" in Milot, Major David Bazile, Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), within the framework of sovereign responsibilities of for securing the territory, the supervision of the population, and the strengthening of local governance, has recalled that 14 projects that had been carried out last year and announced that "the Great North will benefit from 16 major projects of MICT" for 2013-2014, whose Milot just benefited recently from 3 of them.

"Of new infrastructure will be built in Milot, with respect to community facilities, slaughterhouses, and in particular a public market for an amount of 0 million gourdes, responding to grievances of the people," in addition, about a dozen markets of the same type will be built in the towns of the north, and several hundred linear meters shores and rivers will be restored.

Minister Bazile, took the third edition of "Gouvènman an lakay ou" to present once again the North Northeast Intervention Program (PINNE), a flagship initiative of the MICT covering 16 municipalities in the North, including Milot. Recalling that the regional axis was chosen because of its tourism potential and its economic progress, in a global context of major government investment to create, in this geographic corridor, a major economic center where we already found concentrated, of infrastructure as Cap-Haitien International Airport, the Caracol Industrial Park or the University Henry Christophe of Limonade, among others.

Thanks to the PINNE program, which will soon be replicated in other departments of the country, Major David Bazile stressed that the administrative structures of the municipalities concerned have been enhanced with new relevant executives (CEOs, tax Controllers, community workers, responsible of community facilities...), recruited locally on competition to create new jobs, improve the quality of services offered to the population and increase access to all basic services to citizens.

Recalling with a staff of approximately 12,000 employees, covering the municipal administration of the territory (housing, communal sections, neighborhoods...) the Ministry was working to effective decentralization of government services for the population, that it worked in synergy with Parliamentarians and all local elected officials (ASECS, CASECS) for satisfying the needs of citizens, the control of territory, ensuring internal security and sustainable development in accordance with the objectives of millennium adopted by the Government.
